Retailer Spotlight: Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe. A Foodie Institution.
Cardullo’s Gourmet Shoppe likes to call itself Harvard Square’s “Other Institution.” That pretty much says it all. As the Square’s oldest delicatessen, the shop first opened its doors in 1950 and is still owned and operated exclusively by the Cardullo family. The third generation of Carullo’s, who now run the store, continue to stay true to the mission of their grandfather to provide the finest in fancy and specialty foods and beverages.
Cardullo’s; however, is not only a destination for local foodies, it’s also an active part of the community in Cambridge. Taking part in neighborhood celebrations and even placing a TV in the storefront window to play Red Sox games for passersby— we love this!
This Boston institution holds a special place in our hearts too- they were one of the first stores to carry Lake Champlain Chocolates back in the mid-80s and remain one of our best customers today as a top seller of our chocolate bars and holiday chocolates. Friends like Cardullo’s are good to have and have played an integral role in our success!
