April 16th 2010 is Burlington Foursquare Day!
How would you like to be the mayor of Lake Champlain Chocolates? You may think it seems out of reach, but not with the emerging social media tool called Foursquare. You probably have heard of someone “checking in” on Foursquare, and if you haven’t and you love getting things for free – today’s the day to sign up at Foursquare and give it a whirl!
If you’re in Burlington, Vermont on April 16th, it’s your lucky day. Get one of our organic truffles FREE with the purchase of any size hot chocolate at our 750 Pine Factory Store or our Church Street Store when you check in to Lake Champlain Chocolate on Foursquare! The weather is supposed to be rainy and cold, so come warm up with our Spicy Aztec Hot Chocolate! You will also be able to visit other businesses in Burlington for freebees and discounts when you “check in” at their locations on Foursquare! August First is even giving $4 to the King Street Youth Center for every check-in at their bakery!
You may be wondering…so how does this work, exactly? If you have a smart phone, download one of these recommended apps and create your Foursquare account! If you don’t have a smart phone – you can still participate in “check-ins!” When you sign up for an account on your computer (by visiting http://www.foursquare.com,) just add your cell phone number and location. Once you get to the participating location, ask what their official name is on Foursquare (we’re Lake Champlain Chocolates) and text the name like this: @ Lake Champlain Chocolates to 50500 (standard text message rates apply). This should send back a text message which says “OK! We’ve got you at Lake Champlain Chocolates.” Just show the cashier your “check-in” on your phone to receive the free truffle with your hot chocolate purchase!
Follow the action on twitter with the hashtag #BTV4SQ.
