Lake Champlain Chocolates Debuts New Five Star Bar at Winter Fancy Food Show 2016
January 2016:: BURLINGTON, VT – Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC), announces Vermont Chocolate Maker Adds Dark Chocolate Cocoa Nib Caramel to Best-Selling Five Star Bar Line. Rich caramel infused with organic 72% dark chocolate and loaded with roasted Guatemalan cocoa nibs and dark chocolate chunks. This is what you can expect from Lake Champlain Chocolates’ newest bar in their best-selling Five Star Bar line: The Chocolate Caramel Five Star Bar.
“The Chocolate Caramel Five Star Bar is all about dark chocolate indulgence,” says Allyson Myers, Director of Sales and Marketing at Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC). “And we’re especially proud that Blue Bandana Chocolate Maker, our bean to bar project, directly sourced and roasted the Guatemalan cocoa nibs in-house. The nibs add a texture and flavor to the bar that delivers on the promise of the ultimate dark chocolate experience.”
It was important to develop a bar that would not only live up to, but enhance the best-selling Five Star Bar line. “Five Star Bars are known for their multitude of textures,” says Eric Lampman, Director of Innovation and Development. “The challenge was to maintain this unique feature of the bars while creating a product that would appeal to existing customers and attract new ones.”
With over thirty years in the chocolate-making business and three-company-owned retail stores, LCC is at the pulse of the consumer. “We tested several different flavors with a group of loyal customers as well as people unfamiliar with the Five Star brand,” says Eric Lampman, Director of Innovation and Development. “Following the trends we see across the country, the focus on dark chocolate with nibs won out in the end.”
Handcrafted in small batches in LCC’s Burlington, Vermont factory, the Chocolate Caramel Bar is the 6th bar in the Five Star Bar line that includes Caramel, Peanut, Hazelnut, Fruit & Nut and Granola. The Chocolate Caramel bar is also the only Five Star Bar made without nuts and the first LCC confection to integrate direct cacao sourcing by using the Guatemalan roasted nibs.
The Chocolate Caramel Five Star Bar can be tasted at Booth #1464 at the Specialty Food Association’s Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, Calif., January 17-19. The new bar features an SRP of $4.99 and will be available for wholesale distribution and online retail on March 15, 2016.
