Take a sensory journey with Lake Champlain Chocolates & Slow Food Vermont
Enlighten your senses!
Burlington, VT – Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC), the Vermont chocolate company, is teaming with Slow Food Vermont to host their second annual “Learn to Taste” Workshop on Saturday, October 29, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the Factory and Retail Store on Pine Street in Burlington, Vermont.
This hands-on, interactive workshop involves a sensory journey where participants’ taste buds will be surprised and enlightened by experiencing all five senses: taste, sight, smell, touch, and sound. The goal is to create a new perspective and approach to food so people ultimately have a more conscious understanding of not just eating food, but slowing down and tasting it, as well.
As the final leg of the journey, participants will be able to put what they learn to the test by tasting three different gourmet chocolates and identifying the correct flavor profile for each chocolate. Those who correctly match each chocolate will be entered into a raffle to win a basket full of LCC’s finest chocolate confections.
Slow Food Vermont, a local chapter of Slow Food International, is dedicated to “creating community through the celebration of good, clean, and fair food &emdash; locally and globally.” The non-profit, member-supported association is active throughout the state promoting sustainable agriculture, educational workshops and tasting events, including a successful eight-week series at the Intervale Center this past summer.
All three LCC retail stores — 750 Pine Street and 64 Church Street in Burlington and on Route 100 in Waterbury — will be offering gourmet hot chocolate and chocolate tastings, and sweet deals on chocolate from October 27 through 30. In addition, the three stores’ cafes will be serving cappuccinos, lattes, ice cream, gourmet coffee and teas, cold beverages, and milk shakes.
Lake Champlain Chocolates offers sweet indulgences that capture the essence of Vermont, the tradition of making fine chocolate, and the pride that goes into each bite. Preservative-free and kosher-certified, LCC gourmet chocolates and candy are crafted in small batches from the finest quality chocolate and select natural ingredients including local Vermont cream, sweet butter, maple syrup, and honey. LCC chocolates are available online at www.lakechamplainchocolates.com, toll-free at 1-800-465-5909, as corporate gifts and wedding favors, at three company-owned retail stores in Vermont, and nationwide at specialty food and gift stores and upscale hotels and inns.
