Free Chocolate Tasting: Six More Reasons to Love Lake Champlain Chocolates

April 6, 2010 :: (Burlington, VT) Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC) will feature two free chocolate tastings at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM at their 750 Pine Street Factory Store & Café on Saturday, April 17, 2010. The tasting will include a discussion of how chocolate is made, the differences between chocolates, desirable qualities of chocolate, and the six steps of tasting chocolate. Attendees will sample a variety of chocolates and learn how to evaluate them. There is no need to register for either session of the tasting. Seating is limited so it is recommended to arrive early.

Chocolate and wine are often compared to one another -- what do they really have in common? Can a plain piece of solid chocolate really be described as fruity, nutty, or spicy? Come taste and learn how to evaluate different varieties of chocolates -- from single origin beans to special blends. Find out what makes one better than another. In addition to tasting different kinds of milk and dark chocolate, attendees will analyze a truffle and talk about how widely truffles vary and how loosely the term is used in today’s marketplace.

"Everyone likes to eat chocolate, but very few take the time to taste and appreciate chocolate," says Gary Coffey, Director of Retail. "This hands-on event gives participants a chance to taste, learn, and explore different varieties."

The LCC Factory Store & Café offers chocolates and confections, hot chocolates, cappuccinos, lattes, ice cream, gourmet coffee & teas, cold beverages, and lots of factory seconds.
