Lake Champlain Chocolates sells Facility at 444 Pine Street
April 23, 2010 :: April 23, 2010, Burlington, VT: Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC) announced today that it will sell the 444 Pine Street building to neighboring company Dealer.com. LCC will relocate its packaging and distribution center to Williston, Vermont. The administrative offices, production and retail store will remain at 750 Pine Street in Burlington.
By acquiring the LEED Certified facility at 444 Pine Street, Dealer.com can expand their business and remain a viable employer in the Burlington community. “As a company that has been doing business here for over 26 years, we understand the importance of keeping and creating jobs in Vermont,” says Jim Lampman, owner and president of LCC. “We’re proud to be able to play a part in keeping Dealer.com in Burlington.”
Lake Champlain Chocolates is known for its commitment to keeping business local, from the ingredients they use in their all-natural chocolates such as Vermont butter, cream, maple syrup and honey, to compensating its long time workers with competitive wages and generous benefits. LCC currently employs 117 people; this increases to approximately 140 during the busy season.
“Our ultimate goal and dream is to have all of our operations in one location,” says Lampman. “The lease at the Williston property gives us the time to find a site that meets all of our needs.”
The Williston location, at 290 Boyer Circle, will house LCC’s packaging and distribution center. This new location will provide LCC with the flexibility to accommodate anticipated growth in overall sales and in particular growth within the mail order/online business.
“With the majority of our chocolate being shipped around the country to specialty food stores such as Whole Foods Market, Bristol Farms, and Bruegger’s Bagel Bakeries, along with the expected growth of the mail order business, this move gives us the extra space we need to keep growing,” says Allyson Myers, Director of Sales and Marketing.
LCC also plans to open a full service retail store at its new Williston location in the fall of 2010; enabling the company to serve customers on the other side of Chittenden County.
“LCC has always had a presence on Pine Street. We love being in the south end of Burlington and are here to stay, yet we’re also really looking forward to opening a store in Williston.” says Gary Coffey, Director of Retail for LCC.
LCC currently operates a Factory Store, including factory tours, at 750 Pine Street, and retail stores on Church Street in Burlington and on Route 100 in Waterbury, Vermont.
